What is Sin?
Sin is a malfunction of original design, a malfunction of personality

2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
” (Exodus 20:2–17, NKJV)
As Master Architect and Engineer God will not overlook sin. Sin is deviation from the perfect original design and this malfunction leads to failure and disaster. Christ died so that we can be set free from sin and thus join God in His perfection. There is time and grace (power) for us to grow but the goal is crystal clear throughout the New Testament. Pastors and mothers find it near impossible to accept this but scripture is clear.
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
” (1 John 3:4–9, NKJV)
As a quick aside, if this verse shocks and horrifies you must seriously consider that are deceived and in a false theology.
God as Chief Designer planned and brought forth the creation in great complexity, glory and beauty to work beautifully. This is clear in genesis and also portions like Proverbs 8.
Failure to pursue holiness and righteousness and the Love of God on His terms will lead to destruction as we see in Hell and also many precursors thought the Old and New Testament God’s.
5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
” (Exodus 20:5–6, NKJV)
23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
” (John 14:23–24, NKJV)
The good news is that God will not expect obedience from love if it were impossible.
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
” (Romans 6:5–11, NKJV)
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
” (Romans 6:14, NKJV)
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
” (Romans 6:20–23, NKJV)
